Are you ready to put an end to your child's painful and embarrassing IBS symptoms?

  • Like many of the families I work with at my private practice in Glenview, Illinois, you’re probably here as a last resort. After consulting with your child’s pediatrician and a handful of specialists who prescribed multiple medications and ordered invasive scopes and endless blood tests, your child is still suffering from painful and embarrassing IBS symptoms, right?
  • Perhaps you’re frustrated, confused, exhausted and even skeptical that anyone could have a solution that you haven’t already tried. Take a deep breath. I’m here to help you.

Good nutrition is the answer you’ve been looking for.

  • If you’re ready to put in the time to learn all about FODMAPs – those foods that are difficult to digest and can cause discomfort and pain – and keep a food journal, my self-guided class will not only help you identify the foods that cause IBS symptoms, but will also help you build the foundation for a lifetime of meal planning so your child can thrive, pain free.

Introducing the Flourishing with FODMAPs Course: A Three-Part Course

If you’re the concerned parent of a 2 to 20-year old child who is suffering from IBS, I’ve developed this course which will help you identify your child’s FODMAP sensitivities and establish guidelines for a healthy diet that allows them to take control of their IBS.

FOD 101: Education Phase (Free - $250 value)

Part 1 of the Course was created to help your family decide if the FODMAPs diet brings relief to you or your child's symptoms. We know that this course is an investment, and so we want to make sure that you feel the elimination phase was successful before moving on to the rest of the course.

FOD 101 - Course Participants will:

  • Learn all about FODMAPs, those foods that are difficult to digest and cause discomfort and pain, particularly for people with digestive issues, like IBS from an experienced credentialed registered dietitian.
  • Receive a customized food journal (free download)
  • Have access to rewatchable videos.

FOD 102: Elimination Phase ($39.97 - $300 value)

FOD 102 - Course Participants will:

  • Learn safe methods on how to do an elimination diet.
  • Receive access to a series of videos that focus on how to get FODMAPs adequately out of the diet to know if your child will respond.
  • Achieve a clean baseline by eliminating foods to clear out the GI system.
  • Gain access to course materials such as grocery lists and menu plans.
  • Receive a Recipe Book with Seventeen FODMAPs Diet-Approved Recipes
  • See an alleviation and improvement in symptoms after taking out the FODMAPs foods

Note: Upon completion of FOD 102: Elimination Phase, you will gain an option to purchase the final course through a direct link. This final phase was designed to help you continue complete the course if this diet has helped you or your child see symptom alleviation. If this is the case, move on to the final part of the course: FOD 103/104: Challenge Phase and Your Flourishing Diet.

FOD 103/104: Challenge Phase and Your Flourishing Diet Phase: ($39.97 - $300 value)

FOD 103/104 Course Participants will:

  • Pinpoint FODMAP sensitivities over a six-week span.
  • Receive full access to course materials designed to guide you through the Challenge Phase: the phase which has you go through meal challenges to pinpoint which foods are causing symptoms.
  • Develop a personalized, FODMAP Sensitivity Score to guide your diet for long term flourishing. The FODMAP Sensitivity Score will serve as the foundation for your child's new diet - and new life.
  • Begin planning meals without worrying about setting off a painful episode for your child.

Once you’ve completed this course, your child will:

  • Spend more time in the classroom instead of in the nurse’s office or sick, at home
  • Get out of the bathroom and back to regular activities
  • Re-establish a healthy relationship with food
  • Distinguish what foods are safe, what foods should be avoided and what foods are fine in small amounts
  • Have an anxiety-free meal at a restaurant or at a friend’s birthday party
  • Feel better, understand their body better and - finally- have control over their digestion!

Imagine your son or daughter is consistently eating a balanced, complete diet

  • Gone are days and nights of gas and bloating. The hours spent in the bathroom are now just minutes.

  • You can plan meals without fearing that you’ll set off another episode of GI symptoms

  • There are no more trips to the nurse's office or days sick at home

  • You and your child know what foods are safe to eat, which foods they have to avoid, and which ones are OK in small amounts

  • You don’t have to worry about whether they can eat at a restaurant or what they’ll have at that friend’s birthday party

The Flourishing with FODMAPs Course Will Help Take the Stress out of Mealtimes and Put the Enjoyment Back In

  • When great-tasting meals turn into episodes of gas, bloating, diarrhea or constipation, it’s natural for your child to be afraid to eat. And when that happens, it’s very natural for you to panic and possibly fall back on ‘safe’ foods that won’t trigger symptoms, but just don’t provide the nutrients needed for growing children and teenagers.
  • I’m a mom, too, and I know that when our children are suffering, it’s stressful for the whole family.
  • The personalized FODMAP Sensitivity Score that you'll develop in this course – combined with recipes for a Low-FODMAP diet – take the guesswork and the stress out of meal planning.  I’ll help you identify your child’s specific food triggers so you can put them on a path to a lifetime of safe and healthy eating.

  • IBS isn’t just disruptive at home – symptoms can interfere with a child’s learning or social experiences, too. When kids are humiliated by bad gas or belching, they can withdraw from friends. And painful diarrhea is a good reason not to go school.

  • While I’ve worked with hundreds of families whose kids have IBS, this course isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. In fact, I’m using materials I developed for a family-friendly approach to a Low-FODMAP diet that is specific to children and teens.
  • Nutrition is a critical part of treating GI conditions and it’s never too late to develop a healthy relationship with food.

  • Listen – this is an investment of time. And it’s not always going to be comfortable. But once we’ve cleared your child’s GI system and identified their food sensitivities, you’ll have what you need to give them a reset.

  • A do-over.

  • A fresh start to a lifetime of pain-free and worry-free, healthy eating.

FAQs

  • Should my child participate too?

This is for your child’s health. I’ve found that children age 11 and up can actively participate in the course with a parent, and will be more invested and motivated if they watch the course videos themselves. Understanding the low FODMAPs diet, IBS, and how the body works digestively leads to greater buy-in. And this knowledge is the beginning of taking back control of IBS. Parents still need to take the primary active role, by watching the course videos, talking about them with your child, planning and preparing meals, grocery shopping, providing accountability, and support. Older teenagers may take the course independently, but also benefit from the support and accountability a parent can provide, particularly with making sure healthy, low FODMAP foods are accessible.

  • What if I need more support?

I know this diet can feel overwhelming and be hard to stick with, especially for kids. So if you want extra, personal support I'm here for you! If you would like personal coaching, please contact us [email protected] or call (847)724-8015.

  • Will I have access to the course after I’ve completed it?

Yes! After you complete the course, you’ll have unlimited access to this course for as long as it’s in existence. You can continue to access the materials and lessons if you ever need to refresh yourself.

  • How much time will this take each day?

Each day, you’ll need to take a little extra time for meal planning and for tracking your child’s eating and symptoms. For most families, this takes an extra 30-60 minutes throughout the day.

  • Is my child too young for a Low-FODMAPs diet? Too old?

Is my child too young for a Low-FODMAPs diet? Too old? I’ve worked with children as young as 2 years old on a low FODMAPs diet. No age is too old. This can help anyone with food-sensitive IBS, which is ~70-80% of people diagnosed with IBS.

  • What if it doesn’t work? What if I don’t like the program?

The low FODMAPs diet doesn’t work for everyone. Studies have shown that 70-80% of people with IBS will feel better with a low FODMAPs diet, but that leaves 20-30% of people for whom it is not effective. The good news is that once you complete the diet and the food challenges, if it hasn’t worked for you, you still have gained knowledge and information! You will have then discovered that you are part of the 20-30% of people who’s IBS is not due to food sensitivities. That’s super valuable information to have, because you can stop worrying about what you eat since it doesn’t make a difference, enjoy the foods you prefer, and pursue other approaches to treating IBS, which can include management of stress and anxiety, acupuncture, relaxation, and more.

  • Why is the course split into parts?

The course is split into parts so that you can assess if the first parts of the course were successful. The majority of our participants will see improvement in their symptoms with a Low-FODMAPs diet. Once you've successfully completed the first part and second part, you can move onto the third part of the course.

  • Do I still need to see a doctor if I complete the program?

We highly recommend working with your doctor as you work through the program. As you share your journey through the program and how it’s benefiting you, your doctor can support your progress and answer any medical questions. Working with a doctor is essential if you need ongoing medical treatment, such as prescription medicine. However, many people find that once they understand their IBS and food sensitivities, they are often able to manage their IBS and GI symptoms, and need less medical support.

  • My doctor has said that the low fodmaps diet doesn’t work….?

The low FODMAPs diet has been shown to work for 70-80% of people with IBS. For 20-30% of people, it may not effectively control IBS. If your doctor’s experience is that the low FODMAPs diet does not work, it is likely that he or she has not worked with patients or other health professionals that have followed the low FODMAPs diet correctly. There is a lot of misinformation available on the internet, and there are also people who “sort-of” follow a lower FODMAPs diet, but don’t get adequate relief because they haven’t given themselves an opportunity to fully commit long enough to see results.
